Shelly is an AMS certified Montessori teacher who earned her Montessori primary certification at the world-renowned Houston Montessori Center in 2005. The Houston Montessori Center began operating more than 35 years ago and includes some of the most respected figures of the Montessori community as faculty and staff. Upon graduation and the completion of her internship, Shelly was a lead teacher for several large Montessori classrooms prior to starting Della Terra Montessori School.

Shelly's vision for DTMS is to provide a nurturing environment that adheres to the principles applied by Maria Montessori. Past experiences proved to Shelly that any business can have the name "Montessori" but it takes a special place with a special community of families to live up to the true Montessori legacy. It is the desire to share this vision with students at DTMS that drives Shelly every day.

Aside from being a dedicated Montessori teacher and guide, Shelly is also a mother to a Montessori child -- Jack. Jack officially became a Montessori student right after his second birthday, and continues his Montessori journey today.
